Ultrasonic Detecting Technology for Downhole Leak Source

Scope of Application:

This technology is applicable for the detection of casing leak of oil gas water well. 

Principles

During gas or liquid leakage, when the gas or liquid moves from high pressure area to low pressure area, it produces turbulent flow and hence generates special frequency of sound wave. Different differential pressure, amplitude and geometric figure of leakage represent different frequency spectrum. With acoustic wave acquisition techniques, the depth and amount of leakage of downhole tubing and casing can be measured quantitatively.

2.Upper temperature limit: 150℃ 

3.Upper pressure limit: 15Kpsi

4.Detectable leakage flow rate: 0.02----150 L/min. 

5.Min. accessible inner diameter of string: 2”

Performance Features: 

1.Monitoring can be realized through cable, wire (storage type), coiled tubing, crawler and so on without tripping out downhole string. 

2.Monitoring on production well, injection well or well shutdown can be realized. 

3.Due to the penetrability of acoustic wave, leakage at any location of downhole string can be detected. 

4.The measuring speed is 10-30ft/min. 

Field Application

At present, the technology has been successfully applied on 15 wells with a logging success rate of 100%.
