Jimsar shale oil demonstration zone increased production by 82.2% year-on-year in the first half of the year
The Jimsar National Continental Shale Oil Demonstration Zone in Xinjiang has produced a total of 880000 tons of crude oil in the first half of this year, an increase of 82.2% compared to the same period last year, and multiple key indicators have broken domestic records.
Shale oil is a type of petroleum that adheres to shale or crevices and is one of the most difficult to extract. The burial depth of shale oil in Jimsar, Xinjiang exceeds 3500 meters, and its permeability is one ten thousandth of that of conventional oil reservoirs. The difficulty of extraction is like "extracting oil from a whetstone". In January 2020, the National Energy Administration and the Ministry of Natural Resources jointly replied to establish the Jimsar Shale Oil Demonstration Zone, which is planned to be fully completed by 2025. In 2024, the annual output of Jimsar shale oil demonstration zone will exceed 1 million tons, becoming the first national level terrestrial shale oil demonstration zone in China with an annual output exceeding one million tons. This year, the annual production of Jimsar shale oil demonstration zone is expected to reach 1.7 million tons, and the construction task of national level terrestrial shale oil demonstration zone will be fully completed.
The group is committed to providing comprehensive solutions and technical services for the development of oil and gas fields, especially unconventional oil and gas development mainly based on shale oil and gas. The Jimsar Shale Oil Demonstration Zone is one of the business areas of the group, mainly providing technical services such as perforation and carbon dioxide flooding. As the construction of the Jimsar shale oil demonstration zone continues to advance, the groups business is expected to benefit from it.
